Life Cycle Assessment of Fuel Ethanol Production from Food Waste in Consideration of By-Product Utilization

In this paper, a life cycle assessment was used to evaluate fuel ethanol production from food waste with capacity of 20 tons/day. The energy and pollution emissions during the whole process were recorded compared by method electricity conversion standard coal. Different indicators, such as GWP (global warming potential), ODP (ozone depletion AP (acid EP (possibility eutrophication), POCP (photochemical oxidation DUST (dust), perform an environmental impact analysis without by-product utilization. result shows that indicator sequence under weighted factor > POCP. consideration by-products decreased values GWP, AP, significantly; declined slightly; increased; overall output negative. utilization determined be environmentally friendly.
